On December 14 Simon’s fund launched a crowdfunding website called GotAED. It is dedicated to getting AED devices into youth-related facilities and organizations.
An Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is the only tool that can reverse the effects of cardiac arrest. It shocks the heart back into a normal rhythm. Unfortunately, many schools and youth-related facilities don’t have them or know where to procure them.
The concept of GotAED is simple. Set up a campaign. Alert your network. Raise $1,100. Receive an AED, wall cabinet and pediatric pads. We are so excited about the potential that this site has to make AEDs more available and accessible.
There are a couple of things that you can do to help us with this project. Review the site and tell us what you think. Email your comments. Introduce a youth-related facility to the site so they can start a campaign.
We are always thinking of new and innovative ways to prevent sudden cardiac arrest in kids. With your help, we’ll keep going. Happy Holidays!
